Triple Your Hourly Wage: Moving from Muscle to Mind
Zach’s Take: We’re going live with zero fluff today. It’s 3 degrees here in Michigan, the sun has abandoned us, and Michael Gabriel is officially back from the dead (seriously, we thought we lost him last week). This is where the big boys and girls put their "daddy pants" on. If you’re still trading your muscles for a paycheck, you’re playing a losing game. It’s time to stop being a "poser" in business and start studying the art of getting eyes on what you do.
The "Hotel" Reality Check 🏨
Think about the last time you checked into a hotel. Who’s the hardest-working person there? It’s the person scrubbing the floors and hauling the laundry. They are busting their tail, but they’re usually the lowest-paid people in the building.
In business, that’s the Implementation Level. You’re trading your back, your time, and your health for a check. There’s nothing wrong with honest work, but you’ll never build an empire swinging a hammer 10 hours a day. To triple your hourly wage, you have to climb the ladder:
Unification: You stop doing the work and start managing the people who do.
Communication: You use your words and your mouth to move the needle. Think Tony Robbins or top-tier sales reps.
Imagination: This is the elite level. It’s the "Thinkers" like Elon Musk. They use vision and money to build systems that work while they sleep.
You have to decide: Are you the one cleaning the room, or the one imagining the hotel?

Is Money Evil? (The Brick Metaphor) 🧱
A lot of people grow up hearing that money is the root of all evil. That’s a lie. The nuance matters: it’s the love of money that causes the problem.
Money is just a tool. It’s amoral—exactly like a brick. You can use a brick to build a cathedral, or you can use it to smash a window. If you’re called to be an entrepreneur, you’re called to grow that business big and grow it ethically. You can’t do that if you’re stuck trading your limited time for pennies.
The Four Ways to Get Eyeballs (Traffic) 🚦
If you have more time than money, you work. If you have more money than time, you spend. Here is the framework Michael and I use to scale local businesses into legends:
Traffic You OWN: Your database. If you’re starting today, you need 250 names and numbers on a list. This is your "Data Bank." It prints money on command.
Traffic You EARN: This is what we’re doing right now. We’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on our education just to give it away for free on this podcast to build rapport.
Traffic You PAY For: Ads. They are the fastest way to see if your "Slap-Story-Solution" actually works, but they’ll bankrupt you if you’re just "throwing crap at the wall."
Traffic You BORROW (The "Grinch Tree" Effect): Michael’s wife bought a "Grinch Tree" because some guy on TikTok made a funny video that went viral. That’s borrowed traffic—finding someone who already has your audience's attention and getting them to endorse you.
The Power of the Micro-Influencer
You don't need a million followers to borrow traffic. If you're a local contractor, find the "Micro-Influencers"—the local people with 5,000 to 20,000 followers who your neighbors actually trust. One sentence from the right person can empty a store or fill your calendar for the entire season.
Wisdom Over Knowledge
Knowledge is just a bunch of facts in your head. Wisdom is taking what you just read and actually implementing it.
Whether you’re a heart surgeon or a drywaller, if you don't have eyeballs on your business, you aren't going to have food on your table. It’s time to move from the "Implementation" side of the house to the "Imagination" side.
